Facts about Sigyn

The Sigyn gas and condensate (light oil) field lies in block 16/7 in the Sleipner area, roughly 12 kilometres south-east of Sleipner East, where the water depth is about 70 metres.

This acreage was awarded in 1981. The Sigyn reservoirs were discovered in 1982 and 1997.

A field development was approved in August 2001, and came on stream in December 2002.

The Sigyn East and West structures are produced by one and two wells respectively, all drilled from the same subsea template.

Wellstreams are carried by two pipelines to StatoilHydro’s Sleipner A platform, which also controls production remotely. Esso is responsible for reservoir management.

The gas is exported via the dry gas system from Sleipner Riser, while the condensate is exported through the dedicated pipeline to Kårstø north of Stavanger.
