Total production of oil and gas on the NCS is at a historical
high level. The production of oil has decreased since it peaked in 2001, while the production of gas is increasing.
Business strategy
There are several factors that are expected to contribute to the achievement of our production goals on the NCS. They include cost-effective operations, improved recovery from existing fi elds, development of new discoveries, the proving of new reserves through intensive exploration activity and increased access to new licences. Focus on health, safety and the environment (HSE) and optimal use of existing infrastructure are also important elements in this connection.
Key events:
- The giant Ormen Lange development project was completed. Production started in September.
- The Snøhvit fi eld started production in September.
- The Statfjord late-life project started production in October following the opening of Tampen Link Pipeline for gas exports.
Facts:
Exploration & Production Norway (EPN) is responsible for our exploration,
fi eld development and production operations on the Norwegian continental shelf. EPN is the operator of 37 developed fi elds that collectively produced more than three mmboe per day in 2007, which represented about 80% of the total production from the NCS. In 2007, our average daily equity oil and NGL (Natural Gas Liquids) production was 817,9 mboe and our daily equity gas production was 95.2 mmcm (3.4 bcf), totalling 1.417 mmboe per day.
