Angola is one of StatoilHydro's most important priority areas. More than half of our non-Norwegian oil production currently comes from Angola, and we are a partner in four licences.
To support our operations in Angola we are increasingly investing in our long-term future by building skills and competence among local partners and players.
Capacity and skills-building and transfer
We cooperate with the Angolan national oil company, Sonangol, primarily in the areas of technology, exploration and technical support.
Through a Management and Technology Transfer Programme, we are supporting the development of local oil and gas skills, and are also working with the University of Agostinho Neto in Luanda to strengthen national higher education dedicated to petroleum geosciences and engineering.
Other social investments
We also support a variety of social investment projects, both through the four block partner groups in which we have a stake and directly through NGO partner projects nationwide.
These projects include mine clearing activities, programmes to combat HIV/Aids, basic education for refugees, drilling water wells, the development of educational infrastructure and teacher training programmes.
