In StatoilHydro, we recognize the need to develop new sources of energy, and we are putting considerable effort into developing renewable energy sources such as wind power, wave power and tidal power.
We are actively investing in technology development and production of energy from wind power stations. We have a series of exciting projects underway for offshore wind power, and we also have several land-based wind power plants in operation and in the pipeline.
As early as 2002, we started production at our first wind power park, Havøygavlen in Finnmark. At Utsira we have implemented a hydrogen and wind power project which was awarded the Platts Global Energy Award in 2004.
StatoilHydro has invested in wave power technology, Pelamis, developed by Ocean Power Delivery (OPD). Through our ownership in Hammerfest Strøm AS, StatoilHydro is a joint owner of the world's first tidal power turbine delivering electricity to the onshore grid.
