Measures and results

Strategy for fulfilling obligations under the regime for emissions trading from 2008.

A system has been established whereby StatoilHydro's emissions trading organisation attends to the obligations under the emissions trading system for all facilities run by StatoilHydro. Draw up a climate strategy for the group.
Continue efforts to achieve the goal in 2010 through large and small actions, for example Snøhvit.
Actions that contributed to 67% of the goal for 2010 having been achieved. This is the same level as 2006.
Bring carbon capture on Snøhvit and In Salah up to the planned level. When this has been done, and when the Mongstad energy plant is later put into operation, the 2010 goal will have been achieved.
Proposals for solutions so that carbon capture and storage (CCS) can be approved as a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
Contributed experience, expertise and proposals for solutions in various contexts, both directly in relation to countries and companies and through industry organisations. Some countries were critical of CCS and CDM during climate negotiations on Bali, and the chances for a decision being reached during 2008 are deemed to be small. Continue the work on solutions so that carbon capture and storage can be approved as CDM projects (clean development mechanism) in 2008/2009.
During 2007, Statoil will replace three per cent of its fuel sales with biofuels.

2.65% (fuel sales replaced by biofuel sales)
During the year, StatoilHydro will deliver low-blend biofuel in all markets with the goal of achieving a biofuel share of 3.4%.
A reduction in emissions of non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOC) during offshore loading. One system will be installed in 2007. All offshore loading vessels on the Norwegian continental shelf will have NMVOC- reduction systems. Improvement of regularity is ongoing.
A new system has been installed in 2007. All offshore loading vessels on the Norwegian continental shelf now have NMVOC-reduction systems, but operating conditions mean that they have not always been available. The regularity of the purification systems is not as good as expected. Discharges have been reduced by about 45,000 tonnes, i.e. 30% less than the target.
Implement measures to improve the deployment of vessels with reduction measures and increase the regularity of the systems.
