India

The Indian authorities approved our participation in a deepwater exploration license, block KG-DWN-98/2, on the east coast of India in July 2008.

The block is located in the Bay of Bengal. Water depth ranges from approximately 200 m to 3000 m and the block covers 7,300 sq km.

The former Hydro originally signed the development and cooperation agreement with Indian state oil company ONGC in July 2007. The farm-in agreement includes a 10% equity interest in deepwater exploration license KG-DWN-98/2.

The 98/2 block has several small, mainly gas, discoveries. Most of the discoveries are in the northern part of the block. One discovery is in ultra deep waters – in nearly 3000 m of water depth.

Partners in the block are:

ONGC65 % (operator)
Cairn 10 %
Petrobras 15 %
StatoilHydro 10 %
