Environmental monitoring is essential to enable us to achieve our target of zero harmful discharges.

The three most important pillars of this work are risk evaluation, use of technology, and monitoring.
Before we go into a new area, we gather thorough background information about the environment. This forms the basis for risk evaluations and to identify any changes after our activities have been started.
Monitoring surveys are also carried out after the activity is completed to ensure that the environment is returned to its normal condition.
The results of the environmental monitoring provide not only information about the state of the environment, but also important information that can be used to calibrate our risk models so that our predictions can become more accurate in future.
The need for good knowledge is important to select the best environmental and cost effective solutions in relation to each individual acitivity.
In the last couple of years, we have therefore initiated and become involved in several projects related to environmental monitoring over and above the surveys required by the Norwegian authorities.
