Projects

StatoilHydro has long been a pioneer within CO2 capture and storage. The company currently operates some of the world's largest projects in this area, alone or with others. Four large-scale commercial projects at different levels of maturity.

Snøhvit carbon capture and storage

The Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea now provides gas to the world’s first LNG (liquefied natural gas) production site at which carbon dioxide is captured and stored.

In Salah - Algerie

StatoilHydro’s third CO2 injection project is located at the In Salah gas field in the central Sahara region of Algeria

Sleipner Vest

CO2 capture is done at Sleipner with a conventional amine process. It was a challenge to design this process compact enough so that it could be placed on an offshore platform in the middle of the North Sea, 250 kilometres from land.

Mongstad

Building a combined heat and power station(CPH) at Mongstad will be a huge energy-saving boost for future carbon capture and storage.
