Gas trunklines 

StatoilHydro has developed extensive expertise in pipeline technology and the operation of advanced pipeline systems, and is a leader in construction of large-diameter pipelines in deep water. 

 
The company is technical operator for one of the largest submarine pipeline systems in the world exporting gas from Norway to central Europe and the UK.

Statoil built Statpipe became operational in 1985 and laid the basis for the whole gas infrastructure on the Norwegian continental shelf.

With its landfall at Kårstø and the development of Europe’s largest gas processing complex, the group has constructed a gas value chain from production to market.

StatoilHydro has been responsible for designing and laying the entire 1,200 kilometre-long Langeled pipeline, the world’s longest subsea pipeline, transporting Ormen Lange gas from mid-Norway, via the Sleipner-platform in the North Sea to the UK.
