Tight gas reservoirs 

The reservoir characteristics in the fields operated by StatoilHydro, vary from highly permeable, homogeneous reservoirs in parts of the Statfjord field to very low permeable complex reservoirs in parts of the Heidrun and Åsgard fields.

The primary goal of the project is to provide technology capability (technology and competence) to enable the company to efficiently produce from carbonate and tight gas reservoirs.

This includes innovation within focus areas:  

• Reservoir geological (including fracture), geophysical and petrophysical descriptions of reservoir architecture, geometry and heterogeneity

• Reservoir static model description leading to simulation models which can be used for assessment of recovery mechanisms

• Understand fluid flow mechanisms and the implications for recovery methods and production strategies.
