StatoilHydro is well known nationally and internationally for its expertise in sandstone reservoirs and is rapidly building a reputation for carbonates (chalk and limestone).

The group has been heavily engaged in modelling carbonate reservoirs as part of a study on improved oil recovery for the giant Bibi Hakimeh and Marun fields in south-western Iran.
They are located in the Dezful Embayment, one of the world’s most prolific oil provinces on the outskirts of the Zagros mountain chain.
StatoilHydro’s work is being carried out to support the Zagros project teams and in close collaboration with Iranian colleagues in the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (Ripi) and the National Iranian South Oil Company (Nisoc).
