Fruknuten wind power plant

An application was submitted in September 2006 for commencement of planning on the Fruknuten wind power plant project west of Hauge in the local authority of Sokndal, in Rogaland.

Some of the terrain in the area is very rolling and there is therefore uncertainty as to whether the wind conditions are good enough for building a wind power plant, and if so, how big it can be.

Initial assessments indicate it can be possible to site up to 30 wind turbine with total capacity of 90 MW within the designated area. As such, a wind power plant at Fruknuten will be able to produce enough renewable energy to supply approx. 10,000 homes per year.

StatoilHydro has also applied for a concession for the Tellenes wind power project in the local authorities of Sokndal and Lund.

The Fruknuten project will be dependent on the Tellenes project being built as common grid connection is planned, plus combining tenders, construction and running the two planned plants will give economies of scale.

A new power transmission line for the Fruknuten wind power project is planned via Sandbekk and Tellenes to Åna-Sira.

A common power line is planned from Tellenes to Åna-Sira for both wind power projects.

StatoilHydro is considering submitting a concession application for the power plant.
