Ethane is produced and sold by StatoilHydro mainly from its Kårstø plant north of Stavanger in Norway. Smaller volumes also come from the Teesside plant in UK.
This product is sold under long-term agreements to several petrochemical customers in Scandinavia as feedstock for olefins production and other petrochemical products. No ethane trading market exists in Europe.
