StatoilHydro is a leading player on the Norwegian continental shelf. The group markets gas on its own and the Norwegian state’s behalf.
In the next few years, exports from the Norwegian continental shelf will exceed 100 billion cubic metres per year.
For over 30 years, Norwegian gas has been transported through pipelines to
customers in Europe and the UK. As the operator of the Snøhvit fi eld, Statoil-
Hydro now also markets liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is transported
in specialised vessels. LNG can be shipped to customers all over the world.
Demand for natural gas continues to grow and this provides the basis for
further growth. StatoilHydro is building positions in the international gas market
in the Caspian region and north Africa, as well as in Russia and west Africa.
