We also provide assistance to the social sector, and in particular to vulnerable children, youth and the elderly in the Murmansk and Arkhangelsk Oblasts.
The support is aimed at strengthening the capacity of local government and non-governmental organisations to address the concerns of these vulnerable groups.
Four programmes received support and were completed in 2006 and 2007, and all of them have now been adopted and maintained by the relevant local governments.
We also collaborate with SOS Children's Villages Norway in support of a foster family project currently under implementation in Arkhangelsk. The project is based on a model previously piloted in Murmansk, which is now being implemented in other parts of Russia and across the world.
The first part of the project will be completed in summer 2008.
