The CEO's HSE prize

The CEO's prize for HSE work in 2007 was awarded to the team that is working to raise the competence of operations personnel with respect to well barriers and downhole equipment in wells.

This work, which has taken the form of courses and other competence-raising measures, is part of the efforts being made to prevent major accidents and serious incidents in connection with gas and oil wells.

Operations personnel offshore have an important role in the day-to-day operation and monitoring of wells.

The HSE prize was formally presented by CEO Helge Lund at Summit 2008 in Bergen on 31 January. The winners were represented by Gunnar Bygnes, Otto Lavik, Frank Skjerping and Kjell Owren (photo).

The CEO's HSE prize is a Statoil tradition that is being carried on in the new company. The prize is awarded to individuals, groups, entities, contractors or others who, through assignments for StatoilHydro, can serve as examples of HSE measures that have produced good results.

We are engaged in many different kinds of activities, but HSE considerations are given high priority in all of them, thus ensuring that we prevent injuries, accidents and losses.

A lot of praiseworthy effort is being put into many different areas, and the prize is an excellent opportunity for employees, managers, contractors' clients and others to show their appreciation in a manner that will in turn provide inspiration for further improvement work.

All StatoilHydro employees can nominate candidates for the prize. A special jury, chaired by the CEO, reviews the candidates. The other members of the jury are the heads of our business areas, the executive vice president for HSE and employee representatives.

The HSE prize can be awarded to individuals, groups or organisational entities in the group, or to contractors and others who carry out assignments for StatoilHydro.
