International environment

StatoilHydro is making endeavours to identify and manage risk in connection with its international activity.

One such example is the extensive work carried out in Algeria to ensure greater safety for personnel in remote desert locations.

Based on years of experience of medical emergencies and evacuations on the Norwegian continental shelf, we have collected and implemented a stringent set of locally-adapted Emergency Medical Guidelines in cooperation with Sonatrach, BP and international contractors.

We believe this is both an important step forward in terms of local competence-building and a potentially life-saving measure in remote areas. Working closely with our partners and contractors, we learn from each other and achieve better results together, not only in oil and gas production, but also in the HSE context.

As we expand our international activity, personnel working on health and working environment issues keep up to date about risks that can vary from Arctic health issues to the dangers of snakes and scorpions. And even though the risk picture varies, our goals and values are the same everywhere we operate.
