Each CSR plan takes as its starting point the company’s country-specific business plans and goals, the risk and opportunity profile of the area, and local needs and expectations.
In addition to a systematic and thorough mapping of relevant context factors, the planning process also relies on extensive dialogue and engagement with all significant stakeholders from politicians to local communities and NGOs.
Building local content and capacity
Social investments form a part of StatoilHydro’s business and social responsibility plans for the countries where we operate. Social investments are used to build local content and capacity, as well as to promote human rights and transparent operating environments.
However, social investments are based on commercial considerations and aim to build self-sustaining economic activities in host countries. We avoid creating dependency and supporting unproductive projects.
