We are looking for experienced geologists/geophysicists for our Norwegian and international exploration units and for the exploration programs in our research units.
The exploration units in StatoilHydro include nearly 750 geologists and geophysicists covering exploration activities in more than 20 countries. Exploration is an important part of StatoilHydro’s activities to replace and increase our oil and gas reserves in the future. In 2008, StatoilHydro will participate in approximately 50 exploration wells worldwide.
As a StatoilHydro employee involved in exploration technology, you will get to know different parts of our business throughout the value chain and you will have highly experienced colleagues. You will be working in multidisciplinary or single discipline teams, and you will have the possibility to use your expertise to learn and contribute - in an environment characterized by a high degree of job satisfaction. |
The positions will cover a wide range of exploration tasks, including:
- Basin and play model evaluation
- Prospect evaluation, including geological and geophysical special studies
- Licence work or regional studies
- Planning, follow-up and evaluation of exploration and appraisal wells
- Research, development and implementation of new technology
- Seismic processing, imaging and data analysis (seismic lithology and fluid prediction)
- Special geophysical techniques (depth conversion and VSP)
- Special studies within sedimentology, structural geology and petroleum system analysis
- Research within the fields of structural geology, global geodynamics or petroleum systems analysis/basin modelling

- Higher education – master’s degree in geosciences
- Sound skills in exploration and geology/geophysics
- Multidisciplinary skills and thorough understanding of the exploration value chain
- Preferably 5+ years of experience

- Ability to work independent
