StatoilHydro is operator and partner in prospects off the coast of Newfoundland . We also have ownership interests in two producing offshore fields. We own a 15% stake in Terra Nova, for which Petro-Canada is the operator. We own a 5% stake in the Hibernia field for which Hibernia Management and Development Company Ltd. is the operator. StatoilHydro also has a 9.7% interest in the Hebron Ben Nevis oilfield, which is being considered for development. ExxonMobil Canada is the operator for this field. In total, we currently have offshore ownership interests in Canada in seven exploration licences and two production licences.
Our investment in Canadian oil sands represents a big boost to our international portfolio. We are operator for an 1,100 square kilometre area in the Athabasca region in Alberta. In addition, we own the rights to four adjacent fields – Leismer, Corner, Hangingstone and Thornbury. The project has been given the name Kai Kos Dehseh. These four fields contain roughly 2.2 billion barrels of bitumen. Production start is scheduled for 2011.
