Many of our closest neighbours belong to indigenous communities who have a deep historical and cultural attachment to the area, and to the water and other natural resources in the area.
If we are to succeed and keep our operator licence, we must address the needs and concerns of this group in an appropriate manner and with respect.
Our local involvement is based on the following key principles:
- Employ as many local suppliers as possible, including family businesses
- Reduce the negative consequences for local fauna and flora
- Have open dialogue between stakeholders, and balance traditional and modern types of business opportunities and development.
- Support existing programmes in the local community
