Libya

StatoilHydro participates today in land-based oil production from the Mabruk field and the Murzuq basin. Further exploration and development are also under way in each area.

As new fields are readied for production, a substantial increase in output is expected towards 2011.

We were awarded the operatorship of the Cyrenaica 94 and Kufra 171 licences in 2005 after a bidding round for exploration and production-sharing agreements.

In 2007, we began shooting seismic in these holdings and expect to drill the first exploration well in 2008 at the earliest.

Libya is a major exporter of oil and gas, and has many promising areas both on land and offshore where new discoveries could be made.
