Exploration portfolio 

StatoilHydro has a diverse exploration portfolio in Brazil.

We hold acreage in promising areas such as the mature Campos Basin and the frontier Santos and Camamu-Almada Basins.

Most of our licenses are located in deepwater areas, reaching water depths of up to 2700 meters.

Santos Basin

Blocks S-M 1105, S-M 1109 and S-M 1233
This acreage lies in about 450 to 2,000 metres of water in the Santos Basin.

In 8th Bid Round in 2006, Hydro was awarded three blocks in the Santos Basin, bidding together with Petrobras and Repsol.

StatoilHydro is the operator of block S-M 1233 with a 40% interest. StatoilHydro holds 30% in the other 2 licenses.

Jequitinhonha Basin

Located in 1,000-2,500 metres of water, this acreage is in the Jequitinhonha Basin at the southern end of Brazil’s continental shelf.

Block BM-J-3
A 40 per cent holding in license BM-J-3 was awarded to StatoilHydro in the fourth licensing round of 2002.

Petrobras is operator for the block, with a 60 per cent interest, and the partners are committed to drilling two exploration wells.

Espirito Santo Basin

This acreage lies in about 2,500 metres of water in the Espirito Santo Basin.
BM-ES-594.

StatoilHydro was awarded 40 per cent of deepwater block BM-ES-594 in the 7th licensing round of October 2005. Petrobras is the operator with 60 per cent.

Campos Basin

This acreage lies shallow water, in sea depths of around 100 metres.

Block C-M-539
StatoilHydro was awarded a 50% interest in deepwater block C-M-539, located in about 2,500 metres of water in the Campos Basin, in Brazil’s 7th  licensing round of October 2005.

With operator Repsol, which holds the other 50%, the group is committed to drilling two exploration wells on this block over a four-year period.

Block CM529 and CM530
In the National Agency of Petroleum’s 9th Bid round, StatoilHydro bid successfully on two blocks offshore Brazil. (Nov. 2007)

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation will be the operator of the licences with a 50 percent stake, with StatoilHydro holding the remaining 50 percent.

In block BM-C-529, the partners are committed to shoot 3d seismic and drill one well.

Camamu Basin

All this deepwater acreage lies in the Camamu Basin, where water depths vary from 1,700 to 2,700 metres.
