The Peregrino field is located 85 km offshore Brazil in about 100 meters of water depth.
The first phase of the development includes two drilling and wellhead platforms and a ship-shaped floating production, storage and off-take unit (FPSO).
The platforms are tied back to the FPSO by flowlines and power umbilicals.
Project vividly showcases the sub-surface and reservoir management skills for which StatoilHydro is internationally recognized.
Applying skills such as produced water injection, horizontal wells and flow assurance to sustain the project over a longer-term, initial recovery rate has now been doubled to 20%. At this point, estimated recoverable resources are in the range of 300 - 600 million barrels of oil.
First oil expected for early 2011, and production should reach its plateau of 100,000 bbl/day within the first year.
